Same family. Different chapters.

An outline you already know.

Begin with our C90 model: a long saddle, wire-spoked wheels and enclosed brake hubs. Follow the open frame down to the low engine, then back up the leg shield. Much of the identity sits in the relationship between those shapes.

Now look at the C125 photograph. The outline is familiar even though the wheels, lighting and front brake tell a newer story. A successful revival needs that balance. Too much imitation makes the past feel like costume; too much reinvention makes the reference disappear.

A return, sixty years on.

In June 2018, American Honda announced the Super Cub C125 ABS for the 2019 model year. The announcement tied its return to the Cub’s sixtieth anniversary and noted that US imports of the earlier Super Cub had ended in 1974. Nostalgia was part of the introduction, but so was the invitation to a new generation.

The announced C125 paired the step-through silhouette with a fuel-injected, air-cooled single-cylinder engine and ABS braking. Its Pearl Niltava Blue colour also kept the conversation with the original blue-and-white Cub immediately visible.

Choose the right reading material.

The 2019 US C125A manual in the club is for that particular model. It should not be used as a C90 service guide or assumed to match a later C125 in every detail.

Start with the bike’s model, year and market. Then choose its literature. That small bit of homework is a better companion to enthusiasm than guessing from a similar-looking motorcycle.

For an enthusiast, the differences are part of the fun. A cast wheel, a different saddle or a changed headlamp can tell you which chapter you are looking at. Family resemblance gives you an entry point; the details reward a second look.
